Kevin Sheldon

LCC/AV Campus Pastor

Blessings to all of you! I am Kevin Sheldon, the Aliso Viejo Campus Pastor for Lutheran Church of the Cross and AVCS. In partnership with the school, I lead the chapel services and am a spiritual resource for your child(ren) and you as parents. It gives me great joy to welcome you and your child(ren) to our campus in the mornings and to invest in the development of our students so they may love God and love people in the unique ways they were created. I grew up in Iowa and attended college at a small school called Central College. It was at Central where I enjoyed four years of playing college football, forming some of my closest relationships and graduating with my degree in Psychology and Secondary Education. It was not until after I graduated from college when I felt the internal call and the external leadings of others to attend seminary in Minnesota and become a pastor. I received my Masters of Divinity from Bethel Seminary and am ordained as a pastor in the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ denomination. In July of 2019, I married my best friend and love of my life, Sheena Sheldon. Together, we love going on walks and talking about life, visiting local coffee shops, enjoying the outdoors and watching our favorite tv shows. We have a son named Sawyer, who keeps us on our toes and brings us immense amounts of joy. Individually, I love watching sports (soccer, football and basketball), playing Nintendo video games, staying active, eating out at different restaurants, reading a good book and listening to music. As a pastor, I love preaching and teaching God’s Word. But I also love investing in the lives of others and listening to their stories. It always amazes me how much God loves us and even in our brokenness and fallen nature, he is still closer than we could possibly imagine. That’s why my favorite Bible passage is the following: “Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39). It is my hope that you feel this love God gifts us with on a daily basis!
