Lea Van Echten
This school has been a blessing to me and my family in more ways than I can count. My own children attended second through eighth grade here.
My name is Lea Van Echten. I am one of the 5th grade teachers at this wonderful school.
I have been teaching since 1997. I have taught in a private all-girls school in Long Beach for five years. I have also taught in the Santa Ana Unified School District for five years. I have been teaching at AVCS since 2008. I have a Master’s in Education in addition to my Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential.
Fifth graders are such a joy to teach! I enjoy their high energy, inquisitive minds, and witty sense of humor. I learn something new from them on a daily basis. In the classroom, we work hard on becoming Christ-like Communicators as we practice our conflict-resolution strategies and our choice of words. My goals for my fifth graders are to help them to continue to practice taking responsibility for themselves, their actions, and their materials.
We will focus on building a mature relationship with Jesus Christ as we journey towards middle school. It’s going to be a great year!
Outside of school, I love to travel and experience new adventures with my husband Harry and my two amazing sons, Harrison and Hayden. Harrison is a sophomore in college and Hayden is a senior in high school. I enjoy going to the beach, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
God continues to make fifth grade so special. Last year, He filled it with wonderful memories, many educational experiences and unforgettable teachable moments and conversations. I look forward to another great year filled with His blessings.
Thank you for your kindness and support this year. I look forward to working with you as we partner together on behalf of your child.
