Welcome to Room 2! My name is Kim Damato, and I am so excited to be your child’s Junior Kindergarten teacher this year. Teaching the early years of school for children are my favorite because I get to watch children learn to read, write, how to use numbers, and see the world through new relationships and new ideas they are learning. Seeing a child’s face light up the first time they read a word or understand a new concept is very special.

I received my Bachelor of Arts from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1996 and the following year got my multiple subjects teaching credential at National University. I’ve taught in Orange Unified School District and Capistrano Unified School District. The grades I taught were primarily Kindergarten and First grade. I left teaching to raise my children, but have been back in the classroom for 3 years since my kids are now older.

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart, Ryan, for 21 years. We have 2 children that go to Tesoro high school. Chloe is a senior, and Tyler is a freshman. In my free time, you can find me on the baseball field watching my son play (almost daily- ha), walking the beach trail with my daughter or friends, traveling, being with family, or serving at our church in the youth ministry. We work with the high schoolers at our church and love having a house full of kids in our home.

One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. This verse gets my eyes where they should be…off of myself and onto Christ. My life goal is to glorify him in all I do, and my year prayer is that I can teach your children about what a great God we serve and have these thoughts in our classroom.
