Welcome to Mrs. Sher’s fourth grade classroom! I am grateful to be able to begin my teaching experience at Aliso Viejo Christian School. Fourth grade has always been one of my very favorite school years and I am looking forward to working with my students and encouraging them in their academic, social, and spiritual growth over this next year. This is such a pivotal year as the students are learning how to grow to be more independent learners.
I was born in Southern California but moved to Virginia and then Indiana before moving back to Southern California when I was ten and I have been here ever since! I graduated from Cal State University Fullerton with my Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development. After graduation I worked as a substitute teacher and then took time off from working to raise my family. Once my youngest child went into first grade, I began working as a substitute again and remembered how much I love being in the classroom. I went back to get my Credential and my Master of Education in elementary education from Grand Canyon University and just graduated this past May. It’s hard to believe I get to have my own classroom after all of these years.
My philosophy of education is that the classroom is a family and as a family we are going to work together for the benefit of all. We want to support each other by building one another up in our weaknesses and celebrating each other’s strengths. Family members love and care for one another and that care builds a safe environment where all students can learn and grow.
The Lord has richly blessed my life and I am grateful for all of the things He has given me. My husband, Brian, and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this year and we have three great kiddos (Noah, Zeke, and Selah) and a rescue German Shephard named Samson. In my free time I like to go visit my hubby at his fire station, watch my kids sporting events, or read a good book. Very importantly, I am a HUGE Angel’s Baseball fan (Go Halo’s!!) and can’t wait to go to another game in person. Overall, I am the happiest when my family is all together – whether we are home or out.
One of my favorite verses is Colossians 3:17 which says, “Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
