Emily Maka

Hello, my name is Emily Maka. It is truly a blessing to be called back to AVCS for another wonderful year as the General and Instrumental Music Teacher. I was called in 2014 to start the wonderful instrumental music program at AVCS and am so excited to start another year and lead this growing music program. It is so wonderful to be a part of the AVCS family and teach our students in a loving, Christian environment.

I grew up in Southern Orange County and have attended Lutheran Church of the Cross since I was 4 years old. I was lucky to be a part of the first pre-school class at LCC and attend 6th grade at AVCS the first year the school was opened before attending Don Juan Avila Middle School. I attended Laguna Hills High School and upon graduation continued my education at California State University Fullerton earning both my B.A. in Music and my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music Education.

God called me to become a teacher from an early age and my passion for both music and teaching have led me down the path I am on today. My favorite verse that guides me every day is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight.”

I look forward to another exciting year teaching your children the joy of music through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
