Hello, my name is Elizabeth Birt and I am excited to be a third-grade teacher this year.
I feel so lucky to be joining such a kind and faithful group of faculty at AVCS!
I was born and raised in Newport Beach. I also spent 6 great years living in Los Angeles, but happily became an Orange County local again. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University, which came to good use when I spent 5 years serving high school and middle school students through the youth ministry organization, Young Life. Through that role, I was connected to a local school district in the LA area, where I began substitute teaching. I then became a Kindergarten teaching assistant, which is when I realized teaching is one of the greatest jobs in the world!
I received my Master’s Degree in Education and Multiple Subject teaching credential at USC. I had the privilege of working in the Santa Ana Unified School District with 2nd and 4th graders last year. I have no doubt that God has led me to my role at AVCS through all of these experiences. I am passionate about seeing students engaged and excited about learning!
One of my favorite Bible verses is John 10:10, when Jesus says, “I came so they may have life, and have it abundantly.” My life was altered forever when I decided to follow Jesus, and I am a firm believer that all of us experience our most fulfilling life “in abundance” when in relationship with God. My hope is that I can communicate that to students through my interactions with them this year. I am looking forward to a fantastic year.
