Getting to know Mrs. Gastil

Hello! Welcome to my “About Me” page I hope this page will allow you and your child to get to know me a little better!

I've been married for 18 years to my best friend, Tom Gastil. He is blessed to be the pastor of Aliso Creek Presbyterian church in Laguna Niguel and I am blessed to be his wife.

I have 3 great kids - Garret in 11th grade and Miles 10th grade at Laguna Hills High School. Paige is in 8th grade at AVCS. In my spare time, I drive my children to all their events which I LOVE to watch and I love to cheer them on.

I love teaching math at AVCS. I have taught at here for 6 years. It is such a blessing to see the students get math and enjoy it, and to work with such an incredible staff.

I love teaching math because I think God created things to be understandable and orderly. I think math is one of the ways we see God's design and fingerprints in the universe. Einstein says "God does not play dice with the universe" I think this is true! He created and ordered it! He does this not only with the universe but also with our lives.

I am thankful for the scripture that orders our lives and gives us purpose. That purpose is that we do not live for ourselves but we live to glorify our Lord, Jesus. In a society that says "just do it!", and "if it doesn't feel right don't do it”, and "only do it if it feels right", we send a very mixed up message to our children. The scripture says "deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus" and I believe that is the only way that truly makes sense in this chaotic world. God's way is sometimes hard but always best. I look forward to sharing these truths that are so counter to our culture with the Jr. High students.
