Getting to know Pastor Leland
Leland Lantz has been with Lutheran Church of the Cross since June of 1997 when he was called to be pastor of evangelism and to help start a satellite campus somewhere in Aliso Viejo. He was instrumental in finding the property and helping to start Aliso Viejo Church of the Cross and Christian School. Leland has just been called to be the senior pastor of Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Leland and his wife Marcia are graduates of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. Leland and Marcia both earned their masters degrees from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Leland in music and Marcia in elementary education.
They both taught in Southwest Iowa for 5 years and Leland continued to teach for another 3 years in Springfield, Missouri prior to attending Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Leland and Marcia have two children, Emilie is 22 years old – just graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA May 23, 2010 with Bachelors in Social Work. Jonathan is 20 years old – graduated from MODOC Railroad Academy in 2009.
Their family has enjoyed two short term mission trips, one to the Czech Republic in 2003 and 2005 to Bolivia. Leland has served on the Miracle Ranch Children’s Home board in Tecate, Mexico and works at the ranch with building projects.
Leland’s role as senior pastor calls him to provide oversight and direction to all areas of ministry at Church of the Cross.
